Leanna and Andrew’s wedding day was filled with meaningful moments, joyful tears, and surprises that made it uniquely them. One of the most emotional parts of the day was when they chose to do a first touch instead of a first look. Holding hands around a corner, they read letters they had written to each other—both recalling their first date at Sonic. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room (including mine). Watching them laugh through tears while holding hands without seeing each other was such a powerful reminder of the connection they share.
Leanna’s dad added his creative touch to the day by hand-making the welcome sign that greeted guests as they arrived. It was such a thoughtful and personal detail, and it perfectly set the tone for a celebration filled with family, love, and intention.
Andrew’s dad made the bride’s cake and the most delicious avalanche cookies at Leanna’s request. Not only were they beautifully done, but they tasted just as amazing as they looked. The avalanche cookies were a crowd favorite and it was such a special touch to have a father-in-law create something so meaningful (and tasty!) for the reception.
The skies had been threatening rain all day, but we were so grateful it held off until after the ceremony. Just as the last guest walked up the aisle, the rain rolled in. That meant we had to take all their husband-and-wife portraits under the covered ceremony area—but even in a smaller space, their joy absolutely lit up every image.
After portraits wrapped up, Leanna made a bold change—she cut eight inches off her hair! Her bridal look was stunning both before and after and I loved that she embraced such a fun and symbolic “fresh start” as a newlywed.
The reception was full of energy and laughter, especially during one unforgettable moment: Leanna and her dad surprised everyone with a choreographed father-daughter dance! The look on their guests’ faces was priceless. It was the perfect blend of sentimental and fun—just like the entire day.
Having Leanna in front of my camera again felt extra special because she was one of my very first senior spokesmodels years ago. Watching her walk through so many milestones—from senior year to now becoming a wife—has been such an honor.
Leanna and Andrew, thank you for choosing me to document this beautiful beginning to your life together. Every part of your day was a reflection of your faith, your joy, and your deep love for one another. I hope your honeymoon in Disney World is every bit as magical as your wedding day was!
