Mary Christie and Christian’s wedding day was full of love and family. They chose to have an intimate ceremony at Valley Creek Presbyterian Church—a place rich with personal history. Nestled in Valley Grande, this charming historic church was founded in part by Mary Christie’s ancestors, making it the perfect setting to begin their next chapter.

When we arrived at the church, it was pouring rain. Umbrellas were out and everyone was bracing for a soggy ceremony. But in the most peaceful, poetic way, the rain stopped just before the ceremony began. It felt like a quiet blessing over the day—gentle, timely, and full of grace.

The ceremony itself was short and sweet, attended only by their closest family members. Mary Christie’s son stood proudly by her side as the best man, and their beloved dog took on the role of maid of honor—a detail that made everyone smile.

Mary Christie wore a bracelet her son had given her for Mother’s Day, a second bracelet that once belonged to her grandmother, and a treasured necklace that had also been passed down from her grandmother. Each piece was a quiet tribute to the people who have shaped her life, blending the past and present beautifully as she walked down the aisle.

After the ceremony, everyone gathered for cake and celebration at Mary Christie’s sister’s home. It was an afternoon full of laughter, love, and the comfort of being surrounded by the people who matter most.

I don’t normally take on weddings the day before leaving for vacation, but I’ve known Mary Christie and Christian for years, and there was no way I could say no to documenting this special day. Christian’s parents are our Sunday School teachers and being trusted to photograph this milestone for their family meant so much to me.
