Church Street UMC Selma Wedding

Posted in: Weddings

Louise and Jim were married at Church Street United Methodist Church in downtown Selma, surrounded by family, friends, and more love than could fit in the pews—it was truly standing room only. Every moment of their day was filled with joy, tradition, and thoughtful details that made it completely their own.

The morning began in the downstairs space at the Woolworth Lofts, where the girls got ready before heading to the church. Louise waited until she arrived at Church Street to put on her gown, with her mom and sister by her side to help her get dressed in the bridal room. She wore the same veil her sister wore on her wedding day, and later this year, her maid of honor will wear it as well, continuing a sweet family tradition. Louise’s garter was also deeply sentimental as it originally belonged to her mother.

We began portraits outside the church, but just as we were photographing the bridesmaids, a surprise summer rain rolled in. We quickly moved under the covered walkways and then inside the sanctuary to finish photos before guests arrived. Thankfully, the rain cleared just in time for the ceremony, and we were able to take the rest of the portraits outside with beautiful soft post-rain light.

The celebration continued just down the street at Sturdivant Hall. Louise and Jim thought of everything—custom hats, koozies, and even light-up leis and tambourines to get the party going! The dance floor stayed full all night long.

Louise and Jim, thank you for trusting me to capture this chapter in your story. Your day was beautiful, heartfelt, and so full of love. It was an honor to be part of it—especially since your wedding day also marked the 14th anniversary of my business. I can’t imagine a sweeter way to celebrate than by documenting a love story like yours. I hope you’re soaking up every moment of your honeymoon in Antigua—what a perfect way to kick off forever!
