If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my years of photographing weddings, it’s that Selma people show up for their own. Last weekend was such a beautiful reminder of that truth. Mary Carolyn and Allen may have built their lives and careers in Gulf Shores, but when it came time to say “I do,” Selma friends and family were there in full force. Even though we were hours away from home, it felt like a little piece of Selma had made the trip right along with us. Everywhere I turned, I saw familiar faces, laughter, and hugs that instantly made the day feel even more special.
The details of the day couldn’t have been sweeter. Mary Carolyn carried a touch of history and sentiment with her as she walked down the aisle. Her veil belonged to her matron of honor—who also happens to be Allen’s cousin—making it a meaningful blend of friendship and family. To complete her bridal look, Mary Carolyn’s bouquet was wrapped with fabric from her grandmother’s veil and she wore her mother’s garter. Those heirloom touches added a sense of timelessness to the day that perfectly balanced with the joy and excitement of new beginnings.
A tranquil sea of sage and white covered the reception, creating an atmosphere that felt both elegant and inviting. Every detail seemed to coordinate effortlessly, from the bridesmaids’ dresses to the florals. It was one of those weddings where everything just flowed beautifully!
Mary Carolyn and Allen, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your wedding day. I’m grateful you brought me all the way from Selma to Gulf Shores to document such a meaningful chapter of your lives. It was such a joy to celebrate alongside you and I hope these photographs will always remind you of the love and community that surrounded you on this unforgettable day.
