Wedding at Pine Flat Baptist Church

Posted in: Weddings

Last Saturday with McKinley and Wheeler was a beautiful morning wedding on Iron Bowl day, a strategic move any Alabama native can appreciate. By celebrating early, these two made sure their ceremony was the main event long before kickoff could compete for attention. And honestly, the quiet, gentle light of the morning suited their day perfectly.

What amazed me most is how quickly they planned their wedding. You would never know it by looking at it. Every detail felt intentional, heartfelt, and grounded in the people who matter most to them. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they said their vows in McKinley’s family church, a place that has been part of her family for generations. Photographing a wedding in a space that holds that much history always feels special and this day was another special moment for her family.

One of the sweetest parts of the day was McKinley’s first look with her dad. He teared up the moment he saw her and again when she handed him an embroidered handkerchief. Then came her first look with Wheeler. The first thing he said was “I told you!” He had predicted exactly what her dress would look like and he was very proud to have guessed correctly. Their energy together was playful, comfortable, and excited, which made the whole morning feel light and joyful.

We also had a little fun with some veil toss photos thanks to McKinley’s dad who stepped in as our expert veil thrower. Do you think he missed his calling? After the ceremony, everyone headed to the family cabin to celebrate. The setting was relaxed and familiar, the kind of place where you can savor the day, hug everyone twice, and soak in the start of a brand new chapter.

McKinley and Wheeler, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your wedding day. It was an honor to document these moments for your families and for the generations who will look back on them. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and mornings just as sweet as the one you said “I do.”
