Mary Carolyn and Allen’s engagement session was the epitome of coastal charm. Both from Selma, they now call the Orange Beach area home, and it’s easy to see why they fell in love with the Gulf Coast. Their wedding reception next year will be held at the Coastal Arts Center in Orange Beach, a stunning venue right on the water. It was only fitting that we started their session there, capturing their excitement as they walked along the grounds and admired the waterfront view.
For the next part of their session, Mary Carolyn and Allen decided to embrace their shared love of the water by heading out on a boat. This addition made their engagement session not only unique but so personal to them as a couple. Allen, like most grooms, wasn’t overly excited about taking pictures at first, but everything changed once we were on the water. His face lit up, and he even suggested a few poses of his own—something that rarely happens with my grooms! It was such a joy to see him relax and genuinely enjoy the experience alongside Mary Carolyn.
Being from the Gulf Coast myself, I’ve always loved having an excuse to take photos at the beach or on the water. There’s something magical about capturing moments against a backdrop of endless blue waves and golden coastal light. The beach and boat portion of Mary Carolyn and Allen’s session turned out to be some of my all-time favorite images! When you incorporate activities you love, the posing feels almost effortless because you are doing something you enjoy and you are naturally more relaxed.
Mary Carolyn and Allen, thank you for inviting me to capture such a special chapter of your story. Your love for each other and for life by the water made this session so memorable. I cannot wait to photograph your wedding next year at the Coastal Arts Center and see your vision come to life!
