Weston and I felt a little crazy planning trips two weeks in a row, but both were totally worth it! First, we took the kids to Disneyland in California. We had two days to rest and pack before heading off on our anniversary trip to Barbados.
The number 13 has always been “our number,” so we had to do something special for our 13th wedding anniversary. We reached out to our favorite travel agent, Ashley Fuller, and decided on Sandals Royal Barbados.
We had originally booked a swim-up room with butler service. When we arrived, we were surprised with an upgrade to a rondoval butler suite with a private pool! It was such a fun way to kick off our trip, and we definitely took advantage of having our own little pool to relax in.

This was our third Sandals visit, so we had high expectations for the white sand beaches. After getting everything settled, we walked straight to the beach. We were instantly disappointed because it was covered in sargassum. We didn’t let it ruin our trip, though, and still spent a full day on the beach. I wasn’t brave enough to get in the water with all the sargassum, but Weston gave it a try for a few minutes!

Before dinner, we swam in our private pool and worked on our tans. Our butlers handled all our dinner reservations and got us some of the best times and restaurants throughout our stay. We asked if they could arrange for us to try a traditional Barbadian dish and they had cou-cou and flying fish prepared for our lunch the very next day! They even surprised us with some anniversary decorations and a bubble bath when we returned to our room the first night. Between the beautiful suite, relaxing by the pool, and all the delicious food, we certainly didn’t go hungry! Check out some of the amazing meals we enjoyed during our stay.

One of my favorite little details from the trip was spotting heart-shaped clouds on two different days. What are the odds?! I love little reminders like that, especially on a trip celebrating 13 years of marriage.

While the beach wasn’t quite what we had hoped for, the staff worked around the clock to clean the beaches and make them as enjoyable as possible for their guests. We really appreciated how hard they worked throughout our stay! Barbados still gave us plenty of opportunities to relax, eat way too much good food, and enjoy some uninterrupted time together. After 13 years of marriage and two little ones at home, a few days of uninterrupted time together was pretty wonderful.
Here’s to 13 years, our favorite number, and many more adventures together!
