As I read update after update on the coronavirus pandemic this week, anxiety started to overwhelm me. I felt like the walls were closing in on me. Concern for my immunocompromised family members and my 6-month old daughter flooded my thoughts. Then God placed a song on my heart (“See a Victory” by Elevation Worship).
“You take what the enemy meant for evil
And you turn it for good
You turn it for good.”
The song repeats those words six times in a row. It kept playing in my head and I eventually played the song on my computer. As I listened to the lyrics, my anxiety began to melt away.
“I’m gonna see a victory
I’m gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to you, Lord.”
The most important thing to remember in all of this is that God is in control. He wasn’t surprised by this rapidly spreading virus. He knew there would be travel bans, quarantines, social distancing, canceled events, and even deaths. But we will see a victory when this is over. The battle belongs to the Lord and He will be glorified in all of this.
Do you think this whole experience is a message to all of us that we’re too busy?? We are always on the go. Work, school, sports, social gatherings, and other obligations take focus from God and our families. Take this time of isolation to do some of the things that you’ve been meaning to do. Read your Bible. Spend quality time with your spouse and children. Declutter your house. Turn up the worship music. Read a book. I can hear my parents now, “You can’t control the situation, but you can control your attitude toward the situation.”
What activities do you plan on doing with your families during this time? Share them in the comments! Seriously, I’m looking for ideas 🙂
