There’s wedding planning stress and then there’s wedding planning with a global pandemic stress. Like all March brides in Alabama (and the rest of the world), Kimberly had to choose between postponing her wedding or scaling down. Each day as the pandemic spread and new mandates were issued, it affected every spring wedding. Both of Kimberly and MaCain’s venues were forced to cancel on them. The number of people allowed to gather kept dwindling. Kimberly and MaCain decided that the most important thing is becoming husband and wife and they rolled with everything this pandemic threw at them. They handled every change with such grace knowing that at the end of the day, they would be married.
Their original plan was to have an intimate ceremony at Sturdivant Hall. The venue was forced to close, but they graciously allowed us to still take portraits there.
You know I’m a sucker for wedding details – especially when there’s a sentimental reason behind them. Kimberly chose so many great details to incorporate in her wedding, but my favorite has to be her sapphire ring. She wore this ring in honor of her dad who passed away. Sapphire was his birth stone and the ring was a way for him to be by her side the entire day.
After getting all the dreamy bride and groom portraits and family portraits, Kimberly and MaCain joined their immediate families at Crosspoint Christian Church for an intimate ceremony. The short, but sweet ceremony concluded with tear-filled eyes and the biggest smiles in Dallas County. The newlyweds spent the rest of the evening at their house with a few family and friends. Even though much of what happened was not part of the original plan, it was a perfect low-stress wedding day!
Kimberly and MaCain, thank you so much for trusting me to photograph your wedding day! I know you were thrown a lot of curve balls, but it meant a lot to me that photography was a priority for you. The two of you are so sweet and I love how posing you felt effortless because you naturally fit together. I hope y’all have an incredible honeymoon in Jamaica when you can finally celebrate after this crazy pandemic!
