He grabbed the microphone and got everyone’s attention. The crowded room fell silent. All eyes were on him. His hands were shaking as he read the speech he had prepared ahead of time. He told everyone that even though his brother was ten years older, he always looked up to him. His voice quivered when he told Wesley that he cried on Christmas day last year because Wesley wasn’t there and it wasn’t the same without him. After fighting back a few tears, he said “…Delaney, you are one amazing girl… She is caring and sweet, and deserves one hell of a husband. Thankfully for Wesley, she agreed to marry him before she found one.” The entire room burst with laughter!
Delaney and Wesley’s wedding at The Barn at Pisgah Hill was full of surprises! The song that played when Delaney walked down the aisle with her dad was a secret from Wesley until it started playing. It was their song. Toward the end of the night, the DJ asked everyone to go outside to view the fireworks. Delaney’s sweet parents wanted to surprise the bride and groom with the fireworks and it was a fun treat for everyone present.
When it was time for the bouquet toss, more than a dozen single ladies lined up for their chance to catch the bouquet and be the next to get married. To everyone’s surprise, Delaney’s sister and maid of honor, Madison, caught the bouquet! The garter toss was next and as fate would have it, Madison’s boyfriend, Jared, caught the garter! It was obvious they were meant to be together and I think Delaney was the most excited about the coincidence.
The wedding night came to a close with all the guests lined up with sparklers in hand. Delaney and Wesley made their way through, ended the line of sparklers with a kiss, and drove off in a white convertible.
Delaney and Wesley made their way back to the barn for yet another surprise. Delaney’s dad got everyone’s attention and pointed out that the bouquet and garter tosses were not rigged. Jared grabbed Madison’s hand, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him in front of everyone! Jared had made arrangements with Delaney earlier to propose to Madison right after the sparkler exit. Between Madison, Delaney, and their parents, I’m not sure who was more excited!
Delaney and Wesley, I cannot thank you enough for asking me to photograph your wedding! I love the way your eyes light up when you look at each other and I hope you always make each other smile bigger than anyone else. Have a wonderful time in Aruba!
