Traditionally, the ring bearer carries a pillow with the wedding rings down the aisle during the ceremony. This wedding was a little different. Instead of a pillow, the ring bearer carried a Bible; however, it was not just any Bible. Connie planned a sweet surprise for her groom, Bish, and had this particular Bible imprinted with Bish’s name as a wedding gift. A long strand of lace intertwined with the wedding rings, which were gently nestled between the pages of the Word of God. It was turned to 1 Corinthians 13 – the perfect passage for a wedding and the perfect way to start their day at Elkdale Baptist Church.
A single guitar and two harmonious voices welcomed the bride to the ceremony. She glided down the aisle and never lost eye contact with her groom. She fought back tears as she inched closer and closer to him. Together at last. They vowed to love each other forever. Their first act as husband and wife was communion together in the presence of family and friends. “Love is the river that flows through, love never fails you” echoed in the sanctuary as they sipped from the handmade chalice. The ceremony ended with a prayer by the groom and a joyous kiss between the newlyweds.
Connie and Bish, thank you so much for asking me to be part of your beautiful wedding day! I was holding back tears during your ceremony because it reminded me so much of my own – we did communion while our friends sang “Love Never Fails.” I am so excited for both of you and thankful that I got to witness such a sweet ceremony. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Rockwell!
