Flawless. That’s the only word that can begin to adequately describe Emily and Caleb’s wedding day. When we arrived at Mount Sterling Baptist Church, the groom and groomsmen were throwing a football outside. They were all there; no one was running late. The bride and bridesmaids had been doing hair and makeup all morning. No one seemed stressed. As soon as we got out of the car, the maid of honor greeted us and said she had all the details gathered and ready for me to photograph. What a dream! With every detail I photographed, my photographer heart skipped a beat. Everything was so perfect.
The best part? The original forecast called for tornadoes. As a wedding photographer, I am already making alternate plans in case of rain. I started mentally preparing to take all the photos inside to keep everyone safe, but the forecast changed. Hallelujah! Not only were there no tornadoes, but we also had almost no rain! Emily and Caleb chose to do a first look, which meant we took all the wedding party and family portraits before the ceremony. There was a light sprinkle just as we were finishing family portraits, but everyone stayed dry.
After their ceremony, Emily and Caleb joyfully exited the sanctuary. They were finally husband and wife. They drove away in style with an antique car that took them to their reception at Choctaw Country Club. I normally don’t get excited about cars, but I love when couples include an antique car in their wedding! Something about it feels luxurious and fun. Not to mention it just looks amazing in photos!
Since the sun started peeking through the clouds, I wanted to steal them away for a few husband and wife portraits with that dreamy golden hour glow. We found the perfect spot on the golf course! With Emily’s cathedral length veil and a touch of what I call “Beyoncé wind,” even my jaw dropped when I looked at the back of my camera.
Emily and Caleb, thank you so much for trusting me to photograph your gorgeous wedding! I knew when I met both of you at your engagement session that your wedding would be amazing. You exceeded those expectations! I had so much fun with you and both of your families. I hope you have a relaxing Jamaican honeymoon and that your love for each other will grow stronger with each passing day.
