Shiloh Baptist Church Wedding

Posted in: Weddings

Losing a loved one is never easy.  It is especially emotional when it comes to your wedding day and you wish more than anything that they could be there with you.  Every detail of Jordan and Kendall’s wedding at Shiloh Baptist Church was meticulously planned with loved ones in mind.

They chose a wedding date as close as possible to Jordan’s grandparents who were married on May 17, 1963.  Her grandfather was in the Air Force and left behind memorabilia that is very dear to her family.  Jordan pinned his Air Force Commendation medal and name patch to the inside of her dress over her heart.  She carried a hand-stitched handkerchief from her grandmother in the pocket of her dress.

Kendall lost his father just a few months ago.  He was going to stand beside Kendall as his best man.  Jordan had a photo printed and framed of Kendall’s dad, which stood on the stage to be part of the ceremony.  Kendall had a pocket watch engraved with the quote, “My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived and let me watch him do it.”  He gave each of his groomsmen a custom Louisville Slugger with their names, while Kendall’s slugger was dedicated to his dad.  It read, “Best Man Today & Forever.”

Jordan walked down the aisle with her grandfather’s flag in her hand.  Her brother pushed their grandmother’s wheelchair to where she would have sat to watch the ceremony. Going along with family tradition, Kendall carried two shot gun shells from Jordan’s grandfather in his tux with his new pocket watch.  Some of their loved ones could only be there in spirit, but Jordan and Kendall remained joyful knowing that each one had a special place in their wedding story.

Jordan and Kendall, thank you so much for inviting me into your lives to photograph your most precious memories!  I can’t express how much it means to me that I could capture your proposal, engagement session, bridal session, and now your wedding.  Family is important to me, so I enjoyed seeing how you incorporated all of your family in your wedding day.  I know you cherish each and every one of them!
