When it comes to choosing a location for engagement sessions, I like to incorporate places that hold some kind of significance for the engaged couple. Kimberly and MaCain are getting married at Sturdivant Hall in March, so we decided to start their engagement session at the historic mansion. As we explored the grounds, the warm autumn tones made me believe Alabama had an actual fall season this year. Nevermind the humidity to help you remember this is the South and there is no true fall.
With Kimberly’s killer smile and MaCain’s dad jokes, these two make the perfect couple. They smiled and laughed at each other so effortlessly. I could have sworn I saw their eyes shine a little brighter as they caught brief glances of the other between poses. They both grew up in Selma and went to school together, but their romantic relationship began more recently. When MaCain proposed after he and Kimberly went hunting, it was the easiest “Yes!” of her life!
Once we left Sturdivant Hall, we went downtown and found a few new spots that I love! Even though I have lived in Selma for 6 years, it is always fun to discover new locations for engagement sessions that help make it more unique. I would say the downtown photos were my favorite from their session, but I literally love every single photo.
Kimberly and MaCain, thank you so much for choosing me to be your engagement and wedding photographer! I enjoyed spending the afternoon with you and I’m even more excited for your wedding day now! You both looked completely natural in front of the camera. No one would ever know this was your first time taking professional portraits together 🙂 I can’t wait to get both of you back in front of the camera in March!
