I think we can all agree that 2020 isn’t the year we want to dwell on. However, photos are powerful reminders of the good things that happened this year. This has been a difficult year for all of us, but it’s worth highlighting some of the bright spots. Getting to photograph so many smiling faces was definitely a bright spot for me!
Even though some weddings were rescheduled or canceled, many chose to still get married this year and I had the honor of capturing those moments. I’m only able to get great behind the scenes photos of me when I have an all star second shooter, so shout out to those all stars that assisted me at some of my weddings this year!
Shooting with other creatives is one of my favorite parts of weddings. When we work together, we create some pretty magical photos and videos!
Plus, we all make excellent light testers.
Don’t worry if you don’t know what to do in front of the camera. I’m not afraid to tell you! No awkward hands or posing over here! Except for maybe me when I’m giving directions haha.
One thing I want to get better at in the new year is getting high quality photos of me and my wedding couples. I only got to do this with two of my weddings this year, but I did get selfies! It’s a start.
I entered a worldwide photography competition and had 8 images that placed – including one finalist image (top 200)! There were 583,150 images submitted from 144 countries. I’m honored to have so many images that placed!
In order to better serve my clients, I started offering albums to help them preserve all their precious milestones and memories. I have 3 different styles – heirloom, press printed, and budget-friendly portrait albums. If you are interested in any of these, let me know and I can give you detailed information. Also, if you have a print release from your photographer I can design and print one for you even if you didn’t have your photos taken by me!
I got to personally deliver a few of the albums and document their reactions! I wish I could have seen reactions for all of them because it’s so sweet seeing them relive those moments!
I partnered with local wedding vendors for a styled shoot at Cedar Acres Ranch. It was so fun to work with all these vendors and help each other promote our businesses.
I try to remember to take a selfie at the end of every wedding or session. I still didn’t manage to do that this year, but I’m definitely getting better! Maybe 2021 will be the year that I get to 100 percent!
Instead of my usual 12 Days of Giveaways in December, I decided to do a Week of Giving. Each day, I shared a category of items to donate in your house. Weston and I donated over 300 items from our house and those that participated collectively donated almost 2,000 items! It was such a rewarding week and I look forward to another week of giving next year!
Words can’t express how thankful I am that so many of you chose to prioritize photography in the midst of a pandemic. Even more than that, many of you printed your photos and ordered albums and canvases directly through me. You’re not only preserving your memories for years to come, but you are also supporting my small business. You’re helping me contribute to our family and our goals and dreams. Thank you for making 2020 a great year for my business! I look forward to seeing you and your growing families next year!
