Downtown Selma Wedding

Posted in: Weddings

First looks have become quite popular over the years and more recently, first looks with bridesmaids and with dad. All off my weddings have included both so far this year! Kenzie wanted to add two others to her list of first looks though. After the first look with her bridesmaids and another with her dad, Kenzie did a first look with her grandparents. And if that wasn’t sweet enough, she and Nathan decided to do a “first touch.” If you’re adamant about not doing a first look with your groom, a first touch is a great option! We placed Kenzie and Nathan on either side of the ornate wooden doors of First Baptist Church. They couldn’t see each other, but they were able to hold hands, pray together, and Nathan even kissed Kenzie’s hand. Talk about sweet!

Kenzie’s mom brought a copy of their wedding invitation suite to Kenzie’s bridal session a couple of weeks ago. I believe my exact words were, “This is the stationery of my dreams!” I am obsessed with monograms, so their antique monogram on top of their invitation got me really excited for their wedding day. Imagine my delight when I arrived to the wedding as they were hanging a backdrop with the same monogram! And then they incorporated it in so many other places throughout the reception too!

To kick off the reception at the Woolworth Building, all of Kenzie and Nathan’s wedding party was introduced in pairs with songs to match their personalities. Kenzie and Nathan were the last to be announced. They danced their way in and proceeded to their first dance as husband and wife. Nathan danced with his mom and Kenzie danced with her dad.  Then Kenzie had a special dance with her grandfather. Before the song was over, Kenzie’s sister and two cousins joined them on the dance floor. Each of them had also danced with him at their weddings!

Kenzie and Nathan, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your engagement session, bridal session, and wedding! I could literally talk for days about all the sweet ways you made your wedding day special. Every detail was perfect and I will forever be obsessed with all the monograms! I hope you always laugh with each other the way you do now and I hope you have an incredible honeymoon!
