There are few things more special than capturing a couple’s love story in a place that holds significance to them. I had the pleasure of photographing Louise and Jim’s engagement session at Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma, a location that holds not only the promise of their future but a connection to their past.
Louise and Jim’s love story began in 2016 when they were set up for a Homecoming date. As luck would have it, I happened to snap a photo of them at a Homecoming dance the next year! I wasn’t there to photograph the dance—I was actually capturing another couple—but I unknowingly captured the beginning of something beautiful. It feels like such a full-circle moment to now be their photographer as they plan to exchange vows next summer.
We started their engagement session on the classic white steps of Church Street UMC. The simple elegance of the architecture makes it such a perfect photo spot. After a quick outfit change, we explored the opposite side of the church, finding new angles and backdrops that highlighted the church’s beauty. As we wandered farther down the block, we couldn’t resist taking advantage of the stunning education building at First Baptist Church Selma. Its classic details added another layer of charm to their session.
It’s hard to believe that this session almost didn’t happen! With Louise juggling grad school and clinical rotations, we weren’t sure if we’d be able to squeeze it in. But I’m so thankful we did, as it gave me the chance to truly get to know them before their big day next June. Their easygoing nature and undeniable connection made this session one to remember, and I can’t wait to be a part of their next chapter.
Louise and Jim, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your engagement session and your wedding! Your wedding day is going to be so beautiful and I am thrilled to be the one to document it!
These are fabulous!
Much love,
Pam Bostick 💗
