When I first moved to Selma more than a decade ago, Emma Kate’s family was one of the very first I met. They became familiar faces in front of my camera, so when they announced they were moving to Daphne a few years ago, I was devastated to see them go. Thankfully, my own family lives in Mobile, which means I still make regular trips to the coast and I have been able to continue photographing their family.
I was over the moon when Merrill, Emma Kate’s mom, reached out about booking Emma Kate’s senior portraits in Fairhope! We started the session at one of the prettiest bayside parks, surrounded by Spanish moss draping from the trees. From there, we walked to a nearby pier for a few portraits by the water before heading downtown to explore some of Fairhope’s most iconic spots. Of course, we had to stop by the famous pink door (a must for any session there!) and found a teal storefront and a few other beautiful buildings that added the perfect pop of personality to her gallery.
Emma Kate was an absolute dream to photograph. She’s so poised, kind, and easygoing. It’s no surprise that she’s also incredibly smart. She attends the Alabama School of Math and Science, where she has been preparing for an impressive future studying fetal surgery in college. Her confidence, ambition, and warmth shine through in every photo. I am blessed to know her family and to have watched her grow up over the years.
Emma Kate, thank you so much for choosing me to take your senior portraits. Hearing that you’ve admired my work since your sophomore year and always knew you wanted me to photograph this milestone means the world to me. It was such a joy to capture this season for you in one of my favorite places and I can’t wait to see where your bright future takes you!
