Overlooked Wedding Details

Posted in: For Brides

When you first get engaged, your wedding day seems like it is forever away.  Suddenly, it’s a month away.  Before you know it, your wedding day is here!  In the chaos of planning your own wedding, it is easy to forget some of the little details that make your wedding look like the fairytale you have been dreaming of for years.  I want to share some of my favorite wedding details that help bring everything together, but are sometimes overlooked.  Some details are things that I remembered to do for my wedding and some are things I wish I had remembered!

1. Bride and Bridesmaid Robes

I searched the internet for months trying to find the perfect satin robes for my wedding and I eventually stumbled upon Wedding Prep Gals.  These robes are absolutely perfect because they are made by moms that tried to find the perfect robes for their daughters when they got married.  Since they couldn’t find any they loved, they decided to make their own.  The reason I love these robes so much is because the sash is sewn onto the robe, so you never have to worry about losing it!  They also have dozens of colors and a few different styles to choose from, so you can perfectly coordinate your wedding colors.

As a bonus, robes make awesome bridesmaid gifts!  I still wear the monogrammed robe from my wedding and also a robe that has bridesmaid on the back from a friend’s wedding.

Add a little champagne toast with your girls for an extra pop to your getting ready photos!

2. Hangers

This is probably the easiest detail to forget, but it makes a huge difference in your photos.  I always love to photograph the bride’s dress by itself, so you at least need a pretty hanger for your dress.  If there is space, I also love to photograph all the dresses together.  When you put that many dresses in a row, it looks more elegant if all the hangers look the same.

There are so many options for custom hangers that it can be overwhelming trying to decide which one is right for you.  I have photographed fancy wooden hangers with the bride’s or bridesmaid’s names woven in the wire.  There are some simple wooden hangers that have the names or titles engraved on the hanger.

Wooden hangers are always my favorite.  Hangers don’t have to break the bank though!  I gave my bridesmaids wooden hangers that I painted myself.  My best friend bought wooden hangers from Walmart and we painted them gold with black letters to match her colors.  You can also get super cheap ones on Amazon here.  No matter what type of hanger you choose, just make sure they all look alike and it will be perfect!  (Just so you know, this is an Amazon affiliate link.)

3. Perfume and Cologne

Perfume and cologne always look so elegant at a wedding.  Fragrances can also trigger memories, which means that every time you smell the fragrance you wore on your wedding day, all the blissful memories will come flooding back.  I always get so excited when a bride or groom has their favorite perfume or cologne with them at their wedding.  Talk about classy!

4. Invitation Suite

Another detail that is easily forgotten is your invitation suite.  Most brides probably don’t think to bring this on wedding day because you already have the physical invitation.  I personally wish I had a photo of my invitation suite so that I could include it in my wedding album.  I never even thought to bring it on my wedding day though!

5. Groom’s Details

Grooms typically do not think about making sure they have all their details.  Brides, you may need to make sure your groom has the extra details.  Guys know they need their shoes and tie, but they may not think about a watch, cuff links, pocket square, etc.

Did you remember all of these details for your wedding?  If you’re not married yet, is there something on this list that you have not thought about incorporating until now?  Tell me in the comments!
