Spring Wedding at Marengo House

They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. I used to think people just said that to make brides feel better. However, after it rained on my own wedding day I believe it to be true. It also rained on Madison and Gray’s wedding day at Marengo House in Lowndesboro. In fact, the weather was all kinds of crazy. One minute it was partly cloudy, the next it was pouring down rain, then it was a light drizzle. Out of nowhere, a smokey fog rolled through and then the skies started clearing up. After a little research, I learned that rain on your wedding day represents fertility, cleansing, unity, and renewal. I think Madison and Gray just had an extra dose of good luck!

Soft pink and champagne hues were the perfect compliment to Madison’s gorgeous gown. Turkey feathers were incorporated in the boutonnières and the groom’s cake. Flowers filled every room, every table, and the eye-catching ceremony arbor. Everywhere you looked, another flawless detail.

We took most of the portraits and detail shots before the ceremony. There were breaks in the rain long enough to get a good bit of them outside! Madison and Gray even had time to squeeze in a few portraits with their sweet dog, Moxey! When it came time for the ceremony, the rain was long gone. The bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle in pairs. They parted ways as each groomsman hugged Gray… and handed him a golf ball. By the time all the wedding party had made it to the front, Gray probably had 10 golf balls in his pocket!

Madison and Gray, thank you so much for trusting me throughout your wedding day as we dealt with all the location and lighting changes! Most of the day was unpredictable, but there’s one thing that wasn’t – how much you love each other. At the end of the day, you’re married and you’re beginning to build a marriage that lasts. Congratulations to both of you! I hope you have a wonderful (and sunny!) time on your honeymoon!
