A few years ago, I made a rule that I wasn’t going to photograph any weddings or sessions in December. After 5 years of hustling in my business and spending every spare moment of the holiday season either taking pictures or editing for others, I decided that I wanted to take off the entire month of December so that I could enjoy the holidays with my family. Sometimes, however, rules can have loopholes. Carrie Lea and Dalton are getting married on December 30 next year. A date in December, but technically after the holidays and all our family commitments. When Carrie Lea’s mom, Dea, said they wanted to book me, I absolutely made an exception!

When we started Carrie Lea and Dalton’s engagement pictures, they said they loved to talk and I might have to tell them to be quiet. What a relief for me that they loved to talk! I told them I always try to fill the silence and end up being awkward, so they more they talked the less awkward I would be. And it worked! I don’t think I said or did anything embarrassing or awkward! Okay, maybe I walked backwards into my camera bag, but that happens so often it’s not even embarrassing anymore.

Carrie Lea and Dalton, thank you so much for trusting me with your engagement and wedding photography! Thank you for humoring me when I tried to take videos of y’all for Instagram 🙂 I am obsessed with the dresses you chose for your engagement session and after seeing pictures of Carrie Lea’s wedding gown, I know I will be obsessed with it too!
