The closest we get to a beach in Central Alabama is a sandy creek bank. If you grew up in this area, you probably have many fond memories of gathering with family and friends at a nearby creek. That was certainly true for senior, Anna Drew. This particular creek was the go-to spot for countless events. Her older sister even took her senior portraits here. When Anna Drew’s mom asked her where she wanted to take her portraits, it was a no-brainer. It had to be at the creek.
When I arrived at the cabin, Anna Drew was already dressed in her first outfit – a perfectly tailored custom heirloom dress. It’s a tradition for the students at Morgan Academy to wear these heirloom dresses at graduation and each dress is a unique design. Anna Drew wanted to take a few photos standing in the creek. She walked over to the water and dipped her toes in quickly to check the temperature. It was freezing, but she wanted those photos and decided it was worth it to be cold for a few minutes. I love the way these photos turned out!
Her second outfit was a long dress with every girl’s favorite feature – pockets! We took some photos on the winding dirt road and then again at the creek. She changed into her final outfit and went back to the dirt road. We fought off mosquitoes the entire session and we were all drenched from the humidity, but it was absolutely worth it!
Anna Drew, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your senior portraits! I hope they serve as a reminder of the amazing young woman you are. It was an honor to document this special time in your life and I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with you. I wish you all the best as you embark on your next adventure at Auburn University!
