Downtown Selma, Alabama Wedding

Posted in: Weddings

Our day started at the gorgeous light-filled Woolworth Lofts in downtown Selma. Lauren and her bridesmaids had a long morning of hair and makeup. She was anxious to get in her dress and see her beloved groom. But first, Lauren shared a first look with her bridesmaids. Then she left for First Baptist Church of Selma for a first look with her dad. Now it was time.

Their story began as high school sweethearts and it was evident that their love had only grown stronger with time. Lauren and Cole were both nervous when we first arrived. However, the nerves quickly subsided when they shared their first look. They chose to express their love in a unique way by writing their own vows. These personal promises were filled with emotion and the decision to share them privately rather than during the ceremony allowed them to savor this intimate connection. The tears of joy that filled their eyes spoke volumes about the depth of their love.

At the rehearsal dinner the night before, Cole’s mom touched everyone’s hearts by presenting Lauren and Cole with special gifts. One was a pin adorned with photos of Cole’s beloved deceased grandmothers, a touching tribute to their memory. The other gift was a bouquet pendant with photos of Lauren’s departed relatives, reminding us that love transcends even the boundaries of life and death.

As the day drew to a close, guests lined the street outside of ArtsRevive with confetti in hand. The white heart-shaped confetti created a whimsical and romantic atmosphere. They left the celebration in style, riding a golf cart adorned with strings of Mountain Dew cans—a nod to Cole’s favorite drink.

Lauren and Cole, thank you so much for choosing me to capture your engagement session, bridal session, and your wedding! I remember photographing both of you years ago when you were in high school and your love was beginning. Here are a few photos from then. I even found one with a few of your groomsmen! I hope you both have the best time honeymooning in Jamaica!
