First Baptist Church Selma Bridal Session

Posted in: Bridals, For Brides

Lauren’s bridal session was a true gem. We did her portraits at First Baptist Church of Selma, a place rich in history and meaning. This wasn’t just any church; it was the very spot where Lauren and Cole would exchange vows in less than a month. To add even more sentiment to this location, it turns out that Lauren’s parents had also tied the knot right here.

The downtown Selma churches have breathtaking stained glass windows, which Lauren wanted to incorporate in her portraits. It was the perfect nod to timeless tradition. She also requested a photo that showed the entire church in the background. The lighting was tricky and my OCD hated the power lines; however, I took the photo. With a good bit of editing, it is easily one of my favorite photos! Who am I kidding? All of these photos are my favorite haha.

Now, let’s talk fashion. Lauren had a vision for her bridal attire that was both classic and unique. Her elegant wedding dress was a perfect embodiment of this. The front exuded simplicity, while the back featured intricate beaded details that were, in her words, “business in the front, party in the back.”

At the end of our session, Lauren had another special touch that made her bridal session stand out. She decided to have her mom’s wedding dress altered into a shorter version, which she planned to wear for her rehearsal dinner. Lauren changed into her mom’s dress for a few extra portraits. It was a beautiful moment, capturing not just the elegance of the dress but the generations of love and commitment that it symbolized.

Lauren, I cannot thank you enough for choosing me to capture your engagement session, bridal session, and wedding! I have truly enjoyed getting to know you over the last year and I am already looking forward to future photos we’ll take together! You are gorgeous and I love every single bridal portrait!
